GUEST BOOK

Kent was a dear friend -- my closest -- for many, many years during my time in Savannah. He leaves me great memories of poems written, a novel with cimematic tone, and a warmth and caring beyond comparison. It was my loss to seek to reconnect so late that I only missed by a few days. Peace be with his soul. Assalam Walikum and a quiet Yassim for this wonderful man.

Joseph, 'Life is what happens while you are making other plans.' John Lennon. I did my very best to find a way for Hilma to get to the memorial service, but the best itinerary I could craft still involved three legs of travel by car and air of more than six hours going and coming. I am convinced this would have over-challenged her both physically and emotionally. She would have been there if she could. I am going to try to find some time in perhaps late Feburary when I can take her out to visit you and Koko...if that's OK. I am sorry for your loss...and ours. He was in many ways the best and brightest of our family.

I am so proud to have had you, Uncle Kent, and Kokomo as part of my family. My only regret is that we all didn't have more time together. Please know that you are loved and Uncle Kent will be greatly missed.

Dear Joseph, With great shock, I have just read Kent's obituary in the paper. Just yesterday, Helen was sharing the Christmas card and pictures of the NS house that she received. My heart goes out to you for your loss. I know from my own experience that the proximity to the holidays only makes it more painful for now and future years. I am working tonight and will be unable to come to the gathering, but please know that you have my deepest sympathy. Kent was such a character and so full of life, it must be hard to comprehend his absence. May he rest in peace. Sincerely, Mary Sue
